A Poet's Journey

E-mail Print PDF

A man once heard of a great poet who lived beyond the seven seas.
And this man read all that this poet had written
and became intoxicated by the rhythm of his words.
For the words which the poet had composed were already inscribed upon the heart of that man.
And so, he set out to find the dwelling place of this poet.

This man went to great lengths to reach the poet.
He climbed mountains and descended into valleys and crossed several plains and deserts.
He walked the plains and combed the beaches and sailed the seven seas.
Soonafter, he found the dwelling place of this poet,
which was upon a small mountain overlooking the Sea.

And slowly, as if approaching the gates of a holy temple, he crossed the poet's threshold
and saw him sitting and looking out unto the Sea.
The poet smiled and with a silent gesture, offered the man a seat beside himself.
And the man took his place.
And the two sat side by side, in Silence, looking out unto the Sea.

If you are fortunate, the life that you have planned will not be the life that you lead.
