The Mystic Shepherd

E-mail Print PDF

Out in the fields, a shepherd found a cool shade.
It was the shadow of a beautiful Tree too large to behold.

In the morning, when the wind blew east, he traced the shadow with his finger
that he may come at noon and take cover from the sun's heat.
When the sun had reached her peak and the wind blew north,
the shepherd returned to find the tracing of his finger empty of shade.
A few yards away, he saw the shadow again and traced it once more
that he may return at a later hour.

That afternoon he came again and found his cool shelter to be missing.
He raised her head heavenward and laughed.
In that moment, he beheld a giant Tree.
From that instant, he took cover in the Tree’s branches.
For the Tree provided him shelter from the sun's heat
regardless of the hour or the direction of the wind.
