The Liar

E-mail Print PDF

They call me a liar and they turn away from me.
They speak naught but of foreign things and their words are strange even to their own ears.
But in consideration, I nod and confirm their words, only as a sign of sharing,
that they may be comforted.
But I also nod for myself, that I may not feel lonely.

Now they still speak of foreign things,
but I shake my head as a sign,
telling that in truth, I cannot relate to their speech.

I am now left alone and would not be spoken to.
For I have chosen between lying and loneliness.
But in truth, I am not alone.
We are all together in isolation.
