The Man-God

E-mail Print PDF

A man died and was rejoined to God.
And as he sat upon the edge of Heaven,
he saw upon the earth below the procession of his own funeral.

There were thousands of people attending, some of very high political and artistic rank.
They came to honor this man for his worldly accomplishments.
One by one, they stood up and gave a word in memory of this man.
Some spoke of him as a great poet who rhymed words so eloquently.
Others spoke of him as a prophet sent of God
who had given life and hope to the children of all nations.
Still, others spoke of him as a triumphant warrior who had fought to gather all men as one.
They spoke of him as a visionary who loved and inspired many.
Ant they lifted him up to the heights of genius and placed him upon pedestals
where only gods may stand.

And this simple man, who was witnessing and hearing this procession,
was in awe over all the things that were spoken.
And in his mind, he said to himself:
Was I all that they claim me to be?
Heedless was I of all these intentions.
I only desired to sing my heart.
And all the other man-gods seated beside him nodded their heads in affirmation.

Accumulation of any sort is death and the constant letting go is life.
