The Century of The Self - A BBC Documentary
This documentary series explores the sociological myth that came to dominate the 20th Century. It begins with Sigmund Freud's nephew, Edward Bernays, and his invention of public relations through the manipulation of the psychology of the masses. He taught American corporations a way to entice people to want things they didn't really need by "systematically linking mass-produced goods to their unconscious desires."
