Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Maybe I should have clarified. By that statement I mean that the blueprint for human beings is passed on through their genes and it is more important than the individual. As long as that individual passes on the blueprint, his/her destruction doesn't destroy the species. Destroy the blueprint and the species goes extinct. Also, while genes may be concerned with their own survival from the view of biology, this really has no meaning from a human experience. Science is not an absolute. It is an ideology or a paradigm or a mirror, among others, through which we see the world.
